Yes yes ... we love to work on the car  ... Life would be much too boring otherwise ...

newbie question: "How long can you start your car by treating your starter motor with a hammer?"

newbie response: "Well, hopefully to Pakistan, because there I get the parts"

correct response: "Better not too long and anyway, to wait here at the beach for spare parts is way better then wait for them in a dirt hole somewhere in middle India"

Our solution:

With the motivation of various neighbors, I took apart the ultra heavy starter motor. Really fascinating what is inside a starter:) Haa, the newbie just sees for the first time gear wheels :) Quite dirty was the thing so we cleaned and lubricated it for a whole day and are now hoping for an error-free time.

And on it goes

Of course it was not enough ... In the same breath, we have replaced the fuel tank mounting bolt which cracked before, we realigned the compressor, flushed the coolant system and replaced the coolant liquid, we plugged a diesel leak, we cleaned the engine, we replaced the servo oil, we plugged a leak in the cooling tube, adjusted the valves and filled a hole in the air intake.

Ah not to forget the purchase of two new batteries for the refrigerator, an inverter, new business cards, workshop manual and dog food (do not ask!))

Thanks here the two mechanics, Frank and Michael who were very helpful particular in the sensitive issues such as valve settings, etc. Thanks for the advices and the practical help!
Glasses-baptism in the sea

Yes, of course dirty Mr. Roman sunk his glasses while his washing in the sea. The glasses was torn away with the current and lay somewhere with a also lost set of false teeth at the bottom of the Indian Ocean.

My new glasses, I bought then for USD 75.-- in Margao...
